THE COLLABORATION OF OLDSMOBILE, HURST PERFORMANCE RESEARCH CORPORATION, AND DOC WATSON PRODUCED SOME OF THE MOST ICONIC MUSCLE MACHINES OF THE PERFORMANCE ERA. THE PARTNERSHIP, BEGINNING IN 1968, MANUFACTURED A "GENTLEMAN'S MUSCLE CAR." THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT BY OLDSMOBILE, MODIFIED, AND RESOLD THROUGH SELECT DEALER CHANNELS. THE HURST/OLDS WAS BORN. AT THAT TIME, THE H/O'S WERE THE ONLY GM INTERMEDIATE SIZED CARS TO OFFER AN ENGINE LARGER THAN 400 CU. IN., THE TORQUE MONSTER 455.
